Remember sniglets? Do you have any favorites? Have you ever made up your own word? (Now's as good a time as any.)
My sister started using this term that she made up last year. The term is Riddick (pronounced rid dick). Basically it is short for ridiculous and is used to discrible things that are incredible or amazing.
ie, That Animal Crossing game is riddick!
What's the nerdiest thing about you?
I prefer the word geek cause I am neither social inept nor unattractive.
a) I'm a web junkie
- Did someone say web 2.0?
- Really who needs 3 blogs (vox, pj and pj2)?
- a my-space account (which also has a blog)
- a livejournal account
- a flickr account
- a friendster account
- a gamespot account (which also has a blog)
- a video podcast and who knows what else.
- plus a number of other cool things that have fallen off the radar
b) I'm a Gadget whore, (maybe not the most recent and top of the line stuff, most of it is a "want" as opposed to a "need")
- Digital SLR
- Nokia Cameraphone that I use for posting
- Powerbook
- iPod Nano
- DVD recorder
- xbox
- Nintendo DS lite
- nevermind the wishlist of items that should be on here.
If you take away all the above.. I dunno where I would be. You have to wonder how we ever survived without all these things when we were growing up. And it's scary to think there is a generation of kids who don't know what the world was like before these things came into existence.
PS: how wrong is it to post a picture of myself in a Wordpress T-shirt on my vox? I'd gladly pimp myself out in six apart schwag if I had some.
PPS: I didn't really answer the question did I?
What's your cell phone's ringtone? What made you pick it?
This Question of the day seems pretty timely, considering I picked up a Nokia6265i on Monday evening. I've been very tempted to download "Promiscuous" By Nelly Furtado but settled on one of the ringtones included with the phone. The tone is called Tumbler and I picked it because it is upbeat, Nocturnal is a close second choice and I'll probably switch between the two to see which I prefer.
One of the other nice features of the phone is the ability to play MP3, which I probably won't use often, but is still nice to have. I tossed on about a dozen songs that I really like right now. The sucky part is that the activation key that Telus (the service provider) put in the phone, doesn't allow you to use any MP3 ats ringtones, which sucks. I'm probably better off, because otherwise i would be chaging the ringtone every other day.
On my old cellphone, I used to have a Get Ur Freak On ringtone, it was pretty sweet, but I always felt self conscious when it went off.
If you could get someone in your life to start a blog, who would it be and why?
I remember a few years back, I kept telling Jon that he should start a photoblog. Now he's been photoblogging for a few years now and has a site that's quite popular.
It's really hard to think of anyone whom I think should be blogging. Most whom didn't in the past, now do.
Although, I do have this one friend at work named Kim whom always has the funniest stories. I think if she started a blog, she would have a lot to share with the world, handing out laughs and smiles one post at a time.
Go to one random page in Explore Audio. What CD do you see that you're most interested in listening to?
So I started surfing through and found Haunted, by Poe, I haven't listened to that CD in ages. It's definitely time to dust off some old cds and burn them on to the computer to upload onto the Nano. When I got the 1 gig Nano, I thought it would be enough, now I wish I had the 60 gig. This just means I need to more actively update the ipod.
Death Cab for Cutie is another that I could listen to right now.
If you could open any sort of restaurant, what would it be like?
If I were to open a restuarant, it would be cosy and relaxed. It would have an exposed brick wall, adorn with photography. It would have amazing coffee, free wifi service and perhaps a little stage at the back for small intimate events; acoustic performances, poetry slams or storytelling. It would be the kind of place where the food is great, inexpensive and everyone knows your name. I'd call it, The Hangout.
The photo above is of this great restuarant at 191 King Street East. I had my first solo exhibition there back in May and they have the most amazing food. So tasty.
Soda? Cola? Pop? What do you say? Any other regional words that set you apart?
Question submitted by Gladys.
Up here in the T-dot, I say "Pop." I used to be a big Coke drinker, then I was a Diet Coke drinker. However, my pop of choice is now Diet Pepsi. I'll have to agree with Gord, growing up any sort of dark cola was always refered to as Coke, regardless if it was Pepsi. I suppose it's just like people refer to facial tissue as Kleenex and diapers as Pampers. We are such a branded society.
Oh course, being from Canada, we also spell things with more letters. But I always forget if the Canadian way is Grey or Gray.
What was the highlight of this past weekend?
Who knew you could fit some much into one weekend.
On Friday, I attended a funeral for my cousin's husband. It was the first funeral I have ever had to attened and it was extremely emotional. Luckily I broke up the day with a "My Toronto Includes" photoshoot at the Drake with the lovely Selina. Then it was more family time in the evening.
On Saturday, we checked out the Kultura Filipino Arts Festival in Kensington Market. We then had a tasty lunch at the dumpling. Afterward, we enjoyed some Blythe culture at Magic Pony, then ended the day catching The Scanner Darkly, interesting flick.
On Sunday, we started the day off early, meeting up with Sean at the Brickworks. We originally showed up to shoot Sean's MTI portrait, but stayed another 2 and a half hours to roam. Afterwards we swung by Antony's to check out his pre-moving art sale. I really should have placed a bid on something. The best part of the day was the afternoon nap, which was followed by an evening of doing laundry.
Weekends are never long enough, but I always tend to fill them up with plenty of activities.
